I had the privilege to photograph the new BJC Barnes Jewish Hybrid Operating Room last week that Paric completed. I even had to get into a full gown to go in the operating room.
The Barnes Jewish Hospital third floor, southwest tower 800 sq.ft. “hybrid operating room” combines two standard operating rooms, equipment and control room. The new “hybrid operating room” enhances the vascular surgery capability through improved imaging. Additionally, Cardiothoracic surgery will be participating in a Partner Trial which will develop new methods for placing aortic trans-catheter valves. This new operating room allows cardiovascular surgeons and interventionists to work side-by-side. It is outfitted with a fixed fluoroscopy, an imaging device that provides real-time, moving radiology images.
As far as I know, I will be the only photographer to photograph this room before they perform surgeries.
Did you just use a flash for lighting??
